Cadwgan Surgery in Conwy required faster connectivity to support digital healthcare systems and manage patient records efficiently. Fibre broadband was delivered through the Local Full Fibre Network programme, providing a reliable connection to clinical systems. The improved infrastructure supports services for more than 12,000 patients and enables faster system access for staff.
The Challenge
Cadwgan Surgery in Conwy serves more than 12,000 patients in the local area. Staff experienced slow network speeds that affected everyday clinical and administrative tasks. Uploading information, accessing systems and managing digital records could take significant time.
Staff were dealing with large volumes of hospital letters and patient information each day, which made slow connectivity particularly disruptive. The surgery therefore required faster and more reliable connectivity to support its digital systems and day-to-day operations.
The Solution
We connected the surgery to high-speed fibre broadband through the Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) programme. The upgraded connection provides faster and more reliable network performance. Staff can now upload information and access clinical systems more efficiently.
The improved connectivity also supports services such as video consultations and the sharing of images with patients. Faster system access has improved productivity and reduced delays in administrative and clinical tasks.

Outcomes and benefits
When connection speeds are slow, you get downhearted because everything takes forever. Now that things are faster, it’s given us a renewed sense of enthusiasm. The productivity and enthusiasm has come back. I regularly speak to GPs who are frustrated with their connection speeds and can’t wait to have this done, especially in some of the more rural areas.
